Analysis Of A College Magazine Cover
The front cover of 'BCHS' (Brentwood County High School' sixth form has a simple pink and blue theme. This works well because the use of these two colours shows that the magazine is aimed at both sexes and therefore will attract a wider audience. There are 3 images on the front cover of the magazine, the main image is of a student of the college who looks as though she could be succesfull, the girl is also smiling which symbolises that she is enjoying her time at BCHS sixth form and that she is also having fun being successful. The main image looks as though it has been taken inside of the college, which shows that it is a place full of neutral colours, and to the left hand side of her- work is displayed, which gives off the impression that going to 'BCHS' sixth form will provide you with a good education and help you achieve high standard work. The other 2 images are in the top right corner of the magazine, one is of the college logo and the other is an icon of 3 teenage students sitting within the college.
There are many negative things about this magazine however, the fony simple and boring with no animation to it or texture- it is just a simple black or white which leaves it looking plain and not eye catching, also the college slogan 'Keep Trust' is larger then the college name 'BCHS' which normally should be the magazines mast head. It is important for it to be clear who the institution of the magazine is straight away, as that is usually what determines if the audience want toread it or not. A final way to improve this magazine cover would be to place the writing over the main-image in a more conventional way, so that it can be easily seen and interesting to read- rather then simple, straight black text that doesnt draw attention to it or catch the audience's eye.
